I'm 24, and I'm experiencing sciatic pain for the firt time in my life.

The background on my backpain is that in April, I passed my first kidney stone (hopefull my last too).
Since then every menstration has been painful on my back (around the kidney), only this time the pain didn't subside with the cramps as normal, it has continued on for about two weeks now, and has radiated down into my right leg (as far as my ankle) for about a week.

I don't really know what's causing this. I had a sonogram which ruled out another kidney stone, and my doctor's assitant called me and said I should see the doctor again if it's still hurting after a while. The only thing is I couldn't get out of her what the time frame of "a while" is.

If this were as simple as a strained ligament, or muscle agitating the nerve, when would I expect the pain to subside? When should I consider contacting the doctor again?

I appreciate any advice you might have.
