My Life Beyond the Curve....

I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 17-years-old. I had two curves, one measuring at 34 degrees and the other measuring at 17 degrees. I had severe back pain every day. It turns out that I had crushed discs that were unrecoverable and my spine was pressing on a main nerve in my back. I had surgery on May 25, 2004 to correct my scoliosis. I now have two rods and 16 screws in my back, and my spine is cpmpletely straight. I have no pain and I am feeling great. If I would not have had this surgery done, I would probably have ended up crippled and in a wheelchair. Parents, please...if you suspect that your child has scoliosis, make sure they get checked out and allow for them to live a normal life without pain.I don't regret having my surgery...and I would do it again if I had to.
