Overview
A transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation device may help reduce chronic pain.
Detailed Description
To activate the body's own painkilling mechanisms, a self-administered transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) device, which sends low-intensity electrical pulses to the nerves below the skin, may relieve chronic pain. It is best to apply the stimulation near where the pain is felt, and where touch and sensitivity have not been damaged.
