    Overview
Several herbs can rid you of pain, at least temporarily.

    Detailed Description
Some of the following natural products can be used for temporary relief of pain. Consult an herbalist about your specific symptoms:

    • Peppermint oil and diluted wintergreen may be useful to numb the site of pain
    • Geranium and white willow bark are natural painkillers
    • Chamomile is an anti-inflammatory
    • Capsicum is found in cayenne and is believed to reduce inflammation by increasing blood flow to the joint tissue. You can purchase an over-the-counter cayenne ointment for temporary relief of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. This cream is hot and should not be used for extended periods.

In addition, relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation can reduce stress-related pain. They allow you to concentrate your energy and thoughts away from your pain.

Acupuncture may relieve pain as well. An acupuncturist will exert pressure or insert needles into particular points in the body as a method of relieving your pain.
